Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, author, philanthropist, television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. She emigrated from Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and received an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to hold the position of president of the highly regarded debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take on the role. Following graduation, she left her name as columnist in the conservative syndicated media as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed a voice-based website that gave critical opinions about the current political climate. Her fame helped to attract several well-known contributors for posting their opinions on the news, politics and culture. Arianna's popularity was first noticed in 2003 when she became an independent candidate in the California recall vote to replace Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of the Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes declared her to be the "most powerful woman" within the field of media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. made her the President of their media group in 2011, after they bought The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included additional AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Their parents are Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was an expert in management and a journalist. Though she shared a close connection to both of her parents and father, it was their relationship which shaped her. In her early years she showed the leadership abilities for which she's still known. At the age of 16, she moved from the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined Cambridge Union's college debating societies and eventually was its first foreign and female president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of Master's in Economics. Her professional career as TV host and journalist began after she graduated. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
