Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin is a Canadian and New Zealand actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her debut in the role of Flora McGrath when she played the character as Flora in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 for Best supporting Actress. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was a Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won an Academy Award for best support actress. Her role as the talkative and inquisitive young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the award. In response to an audition Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter a Scottish piano player. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician, who emigrated to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. As a teenager, she relocated to America. Paquin made her debut in the midst of her childhood with a part as the Jane Eyre main character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre, and then an important role on the film Fly Away Home. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 film adaptation for television of the novel by Carson McCullers The Member of the Wedding and also played a part as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She was a teenager as teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) as well as the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
